Space Coast Golf Club
Located on Merritt Island, just minutes from Kennedy Space Center, Port Canaveral, and Cocoa Beach, Space Coast Golf Club offers a scenic and approachable round along Florida’s Atlantic coast. Designed by Gordon Lewis in 1989, the course combines strategic golf with a natural setting where birds, reptiles, and other native wildlife are regularly seen throughout the property.
The par-72 layout measures 6,422 yards from the Gold tees, with additional sets of tees that make the course accessible to a wide range of players. Blue tees play 5,866 yards, White 5,355, Green 4,857, and Red 4,491. A newer Family tee setup shortens the course to 3,581 yards and plays to a par of 67, providing an option for beginners, juniors, and golfers looking for a quicker or less demanding round. The variety fits well with Lewis’s design philosophy, which emphasizes shot-making and strategy while still providing opportunities to recover from mistakes.
Water is an important part of the challenge, and several holes require golfers to carefully consider both distance and positioning. The signature No. 7 is the #1 handicap hole and stretches 542 yards from the Gold tees. Water surrounds much of the landing area and continues to influence the approach, creating a genuine risk-reward decision for players considering an aggressive second shot. A more conservative route leaves another demanding approach into a relatively small, protected green.
Other notable holes include the 390-yard par-4 No. 4, the 407-yard par-4 No. 11, and the 402-yard finishing hole. Together with the course’s collection of water hazards and strategic angles, they help create a layout that rewards accuracy and course management as much as distance.
Space Coast Golf Club also offers newer GPS-equipped golf carts, adding useful yardage and course information throughout the round. Combined with its range of tee options, scenic setting, and convenient location near several of the Space Coast’s major destinations, the club provides a straightforward public-golf experience that can suit both regular players and visitors to the area.
