The historic Doral Golf Resort's legacy started in 1959, and grew in 1962 when it hosted Florida's first-ever PGA event. Since then, Doral has become nationally recognized and synonymous with championship golf in Southeastern Florida.

Doral Golf Resort

Enjoy a spectacular round on one of the best golf courses that Southeastern Florida has to offer upon the grounds of the highly regarded Doral Golf Resort with today’s feature: $49 for 18 Holes with Cart at Doral Golf Resort's Jim McLean Course PLUS Lunch at Doral's 19th Hole Restaurant ($105 Value. Expires October 8, 2011.)

With TPC Blue Monster on one side and The Great White on the other, the Jim McLean Signature Course is the third part of the equation that makes up the premier championship golf scene of Doral, Florida. Doral Golf Resort has lineage dating back to the late 1950s as a country club just west of Miami with three courses: The Blue, The Red and the Par 3. In addition, Doral Golf Resort was the host of Florida’s first PGA event, the Doral Open Invitational, in 1962.

In keeping with its storied past, The Jim McLean Signature Course continues Doral Golf Resort’s history of premier golf, making its debut in March of 2009. This par-70 championship course was designed according to the vision laid out by its namesake, Jim McLean. With a total distance of up to 7,105 yards from the tips with a course/slope rating of 75.6/153, the course provides its fair share of difficulty, including a trio of the toughest starting holes around. The challenge of the McLean Signature is mercifully balanced by the four additional sets of tee locations allowing for a variable difficulty for weekend golfers and scratch golfers alike.

The first three holes are consecutive par-4’s that each approach 500 yards apiece. If you survive this tough start and make it past the turn into the back nine, you’ll discover McLean Signature’s “Bermuda Triangle” which promises to be equally as challenging as it is scenic. Included in the Bermuda Triangle is the signature par-3 No. 4, featuring an island green you’ll dream about for rounds to come.

Upon exiting the Bermuda Triangle is the par-4 No. 15, arguably the most scenic hole that the McLean Signature Course has to offer. Its tee box shares the same island that occupied by the signature No. 14’s green. As part of the preparation for Doral Golf Resort’s 2012 golden jubilee, the green on No. 15 was enhanced with a new false front providing a helpful but deceptive look at its elevated green.

So whether it’s chip shots on the back nine’s Bermuda Triangle, snap shots of the signature island green on No. 14 or even a round of shots at the 19th Hole Restaurant — a day of championship golf at The Jim McLean Signature Course at Doral Golf Resort is a shot worth taking.
