Tarry Brae Golf Course
Play some of the most difficult par-threes in the Catskills with today’s feature: $18 for 18 Holes with Cart at Tarry Brae Golf Course in South Fallsburg near Poughkeepsie ($47 Value. Good Any Day, Any Time until September 1, 2017!)
Located in South Fallsburg between Poughkeepsie and the state line, today’s feature course, Tarry Brae Golf Course, offers a little bit of Scottish magic right here in the Empire State. Designed by noted architect William Mitchell, and taking full advantage of the hilly, mountainside terrain, this 6,900-yard course is a masterpiece of Parkland-style challenge thanks to tight tree-lined doglegs, sloping greens, and testy hole layouts located throughout the 18.
Though on many courses the par-threes offer an opportunity to make up some lost strokes, the four at Tarry Brae are a different story. Three of them stretch more than 200 yards from the back set of tees, with several playing totally uphill for added challenge. The 17th, one of the course’s longest at over 200 yards, might just be the most challenging thanks to its forced carry over water to a large-aproned green.
Unlike the aforementioned par-threes, there are ample opportunities throughout the course to get under par – and the par-5 6th, Tarry Brae’s signature hole, is one of the most beautiful and unique you’ll get to experience. Reachable in two for the longer hitters your group, this masterpiece is definitely more visually captivating than actually difficult – so be prepared to exercise your best concentration techniques as you try to not let the incredible views of Echo Lake district you. Make it through six without losing your ball in the water, and you’ve got a good shot at finishing the front with momentum.
Ball-striking, shot execution, and course management are all a must for a low score at Tarry Brae, but the awesome relaxed atmosphere and can’t-miss conditions provide a round that any golfer, that shoots any score, will enjoy. Make your next round the best you’ll play all year with today’s feature from GroupGolfer!
