Timberwood Golf Club
We head north of Detroit and into Macomb County with today's feature: $12 for 18 Holes with Cart at Timberwood Golf Club in Macomb County ($30 Value. Expires June 1, 2020!)
Timberwood Golf Club is a relatively new course — it only just opened in 2006 — but don't be quick to judge the course by this criteria alone. Since the first groups set out on this sprawling property nearly five years ago, all of its 18 holes have matured and filled out nicely. Playing 6,900 yards from the blue tees, there's no doubt that this course is longer than average.
However, Timberwood employs a couple tactics to help those with only moderate distance: Firstly, there are three other sets of tees in addition to the tips, with the whites coming in at a length of only 6,280 yards. Secondly, because of the timing of its construction, Timberwood Golf Club has taken advantage of new developments in turf engineering by building its fairways with a new breed of "short-mow" bluegrass. What does this mean for you? It means that because the ball sits up higher than normal, you won't have to worry about getting a bad lie in the middle of the fairway. The course also offers up large greens and its holes switch between open links-style designs and your Michigan-standard tree-lined variety.
Before and after your round, take advantage of the practice facilities available at Timberwood Golf Club. At your disposal is a large natural-grass driving range that measures 300 yards in length. In addition, you'll find a practice green, useful for pre-round warmups or post-round three-putt punishment. Throughout your entire stay here, you are invited into the clubhouse, where you can order quick sandwiches, hot dogs, or burgers off the menu and delicious cold beverages from the bar.
You'll find the staff at Timberwood Golf Club to be most pleasant and eager to assist you. In the Pro Shop, you can also inquire about joining a house league or hosting your next outing here at Timberwood Golf Club — where you'll find great golf and great value go hand in hand.
