PrairieView Golf Club
Take a short, scenic drive from Rockford or the western suburbs and find out why PrairieView is regarded as one of the best public golf courses in the state. Owned and operated by the Byron Forest Preserve District, PrairieView’s bentgrass layout boasts beautiful views of restored dolomite prairieland that simply can’t be found elsewhere. With challenging greens, dramatic bunkering and supreme conditioning, the PrairieView experience is appreciated by golfers throughout northern Illinois.
Designed by renowned golf course architect James Spear, PrairieView’s scenic and well-conditioned par 72 bentgrass layout treats golfers to a mix of tight tree-lined holes and open links-style holes. With four sets of tees, stretching to over 7,000 yards, the course design takes advantage of a natural, rolling terrain. Large and undulating greens are rigorously maintained to ensure smooth putting consistency. PrairieView is a CDGA (Chicago District Golf Association) club and is enrolled in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.
PrairieView features GPS golf carts, a 15-acre practice center, wonderful food and beverages from PrairieGrass Pub, and banquet facilities for outings and events. In addition, PrairieFire Golf & Grill is located on the driving range to provide year-round golf entertainment using the latest in Toptracer Range® technology.
