Ranked as one of the top golf resorts in the United States and situated on the bucket-list destination of Hilton Head Island, Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club offers its visitors one of the most unique and unforgettable places to play golf in the entire nation. Home to two exceptional courses that are pristinely kept throughout the entire year, Port Royal is the kind of golfing experience absolutely no golfer should ever miss. Now – onto the courses!
Built in 1967 and redesigned in 1994 by Pete Dye, one of the most legendary architects in the game of golf, Robber’s Row is a great example of just how beautiful golf in the coastal Carolinas can be. Cut through stands of magnolia and live oaks and set atop former Civil War grounds, the course allows a little leeway on tee shots thanks to the wide landing areas, but will definitely punish inaccuracy around the greens. Commit to proper course management and shot execution throughout your round, and you’ll have a good chance of finishing Robber’s Row with a great score on the day.
The older of the two courses at Port Royal, the Barony Course, was one of the first courses built on Hilton Head Island. Designed by George W. Cobb and playing just over 6,600 yards from the back set of tees, Barony can only be mastered by golfers who focus on accuracy with their short irons and possess a pristine touch around the greens. With long, thick rough and unforgiving bunkers surrounding just about every putting surface, Barony presents golfers with some of the toughest up-and-downs on the Island.
With two fantastic golf courses, countless wonderful amenities, and an atmosphere that exudes pure relaxation, there’s nowhere on the planet quite like Port Royal.
